The citizens of Vancouver Canada were promised that the Olympics wouldn't cost them a dime and it was plunged into more than a billion dollars in debt. Daley promised the same and the only question is not if we'll pay for it, it's how much new debt and taxes we will face. But that's no surprise, because kings and emperors from Egypt to China to Chicago bled their people in their efforts to construct monuments to their glory.
